felted sushi beads

By trish

these are a nice collection of felt “sushi” roll beads. Why are they called sushi? the rolling and cutting process of the felted wool is very similar to sushi making! I made the purple/white set of wool beads as a demo in fiber arts class a few weeks ago. Though I do like the little moon/comma shaped felt beads – Mine are NOTHING compared to my students… the multi-colors, the varied types of letters & spirals…beads- so many cool types of felted sushi beads, did you SEE that necklace Candi made? Wowza. Many thanks to my students Jenn, Alicia, and Candi – who’s work is featured below.

I think I’ll be sewing my sushi beads together and make a couple super durable hot plate coasters- keep a lookout.
