felt cameo & landscape pendant

By trish

these two lovely little pieces are needle felted wool. yes, that’s right, these little guys were made with a needle and a tuft of wool. you’ll notice I keep saying little – there is a reason- that landscape is…1″  across! The cameo is bigger, but still in progress- I expect it to felt down a bit further once I get it the way I want it. Only a small amount of fiber is needed for needle felting – and no water usage! the downfall of needle felting? time consumption(these pieces take a long time!), and boy do those needles hurt when you poke yourself. The needle I’m using is a size 38- viciously sharp triangle felting needle, and does its job of fiber tangling very well with lots of barbs along each of its three edges.

Don’t let the needles scare you – it is a fun & easy craft! ps – the landscape was 100% inspired by this fantastic lil fish studios needle artwork – incredible stuff, check it out!
