Guatemalan worry dolls

By trish

I picked these up in Mexico a few weeks back- I have fond memories of worry dolls from when I was a child- placing a worry into one of these small little totems. “Tell these dolls your secret wishes. Tell them your problems. Tell them your dreams. And when you awake, you may find the magic within you to make your dreams come true.” Their significance today for me is multi faceted. For one, I want to make a giant set of my own, two, I hope to pass down this little gesture of comfort to my daughter one day. Three, it reminds me of a show I had many years ago that I want to do again – but this time with dolls & toys, in lots of different techniques. Ahh, dreaming out loud again…
